The word storyboard refers to the process of sketching the most important film sequences on the basis of the screenplay. Few viewers know that what they see on the big screen was first drawn in a manner that resembles comics.
The exhibition “Moving pictures - the art of storyboard” mainly covers the works of artists who belong to the younger generation of drawers: Kasia Adamik who collaborated with Agnieszka Holland on the film “Janosik”, Maxim Rebier who illustrated the film “The Pianist” [“Pianista”] by Roman Polański, Przemysław Truścinski and Mateusz Rakowicz, author of the storyboard for the newest Polish film about the battle of Westerplatte. Another attraction of the exhibition are Andrzej Wajda’s ink drawings which show his focus on the composition of the frame and neglect for the details of the persons in them.
The exhibition is accompanied by workshops for students conducted by Mateusz Rakowicz. Applications for the workshops should be sent to: storyboard.workshop@gmail.com
Curators of the project: Mateusz Rakowicz and Anna Kardaszewska.
